Road Trippin!

When we decided to drive to Florida for the move with Leonard, we had many ideas of where we'd stop along the way. Mostly food related.. surprised?
We began our journey with a stop in Philadelphia for cheese steaks at Tony and Luke's. Devine! The establishment itself is questionable but there are no better cheese steaks in existence.
From there, we continued through the pouring rain to Delaware to DogFish Head Brewery, which is one of Eric's favorite beers. The tour was great and apparently so were the free samples. The kind lady in the gift shop took pity on my state in a brewery and gave me two tiny bibs printed with the DogFish Head logo. Mission accomplished.
Our next stop was our last for day one, the hotel in Virginia Beach. The hotel was nowhere near the beach mind you, but dog friendly and clean which was fine by us. Did I mention the 23 mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel? AT NIGHT? The one I had to drive over because SOMEONE, who will remain nameless, had just sampled every beer DogFish Head brews?
It probably would have been fine during the day but the water was pitch black and churning up a storm, it looked at our car with hunger in its eyes. Never again at night.
Anyway, day 2- after we horrified everyone eating their free breakfast in the lobby of the hotel by walking the 78lb food obsessed golden retriever through, we started our trip to North Carolina. Our intention was to stop at some highly recommend Carolina style BBQ joint that, after starvation set it, we realized was no longer open. Our second stop (thanks to Heather via blackberry instant messaging) was "Ole Time BBQ" Clearly a local lunch gathering, the place was jammed and the hush puppies and sweet tea were everything I expected, delicious. The BBQ was also quite good but I'll take Sal's and the Vinegar Hill BBQ's food any day over this lunch.
From North Cakalaca we ventured down to Savannah, GA. Both having been to Savannah in the past for work and St. Patricks Day celebrations, Eric and I were quite excited to head back to the hauntingly beautiful southern city. Since we were limited to hotels that allow dogs, we were off the beaten path some but it worked out just fine in the end. Paula Deen & Son's here we come! The menu is quite small but they offer a 'southern style buffet." Wanting to take full advantage of the southern food, we went for the buffet. This is when I renamed the restaurant to "Paula Deen's and SALT". The mac and cheese was inedible. I would give it a second chance but definitely would order off the menu, not have the buffet.
Savannah- Delray Beach was our last leg. It was awesome to cross into Florida and start seeing palm trees and dealing with the horrific driving that Florida has to offer. You think driving in MA is bad? NY? NJ? After driving in FL for about 10 minutes you realize that MA, NY and NJ drivers are the most considerate and best drivers in the country.
Our journey ended in Delray Beach with Billy and Christi for the weekend. It was an awesome visit. Baron, their new 70lb white shepard PUPPY and Leonard got along famously! We can't wait for many more weekends with the Delray Grays!
We settled in the following Monday and have been enjoying our place in Weston ever since... The guest room is all set up!
