26 months

Dear almost-twenty-six month old Evelyn and Audrey,
I am currently listening to you talk to each other while you should be napping. You are discussing noonies and juice. Wait, now I'm pretty sure Evelyn is standing at the top of the stairs yelling at me- this is because she can crawl out of her crib like a little monkey. Graceful as a gymnast, my darling Evie.  Audrey, the first time you tried to crawl out of your crib, you landed on your face and have since restrained from doing so, so I thank you for learning your lesson (relatively) safely.
More to come later my loves.. as soon as I conjure up the energy after the morning we've had (including having to leave the library because certain people wouldn't follow the rules).

Why sugar coat it? We (upon reccomendation of the pediatrician) duct tape diapers. We also snack in the living room, with the dog, with the TV on. Yup, its happened- resorting to almost anything safe in order to keep you happy, fed, and clean. Spoiled? maybe. Happy Mamma? Yes.

18 months

One year and a half? 18 months? How? Someone please, tell me how its possible?? I promised that I would have a video for the girls' one year birthday and wow, that came and went. I am still working on it and plan to have it up by the end of the weekend, so it will be an 18 month video.. aren't I clever?

The girls are the exact same weight and height... how crazy is that? 33 1/2 inches tall and 23 1/2 lbs ! After 18 months of patiently waiting, and hearing all the comments from the peanut gallery, I'm happy to say that the girls hair can almost be pulled back into a ponytail without any other hair clips. Lately, they've been wearing pig tails, or half up with a pony in the back, we have all sorts of options. I am so happy that I didn't give in and cut straight bangs.. I love their wispy wild hair, it really suits them.

In the language department, we have some new words! Peese for please (when prompted but sometimes used appropriately without begging) No~ oh god. Audrey pointed her finger in my face and as clear as a bell told me : "no, no, NO" and laughed hysterically. I laughed too. Then Eric laughed. Then we realized that we can never laugh at her telling us "No" again. "Tee" for the Christmas tree that we had up is another favorite word. "Shee Shee" which I believe, means sister (thanks Oma for clarifying this for us).  Other then that, we have lots of pointing with 'da' still. They know who everyone is and know lots of animals in their books. Oh yes, they can also say "Boobie" because of the book that features a blue footed bubi bird. When they see squirrels in their books, they point outside indicating where they most often see squirrels out the window while waiting for Leonard to make an appearance. Every night, after dinner, we let Leonard out the back and the girls run to the window to watch and wait for him. They squeal in delight and its so fun to watch.. they get so excited they can't control themselves.

This pure happiness also happens when we are playing and listening to music and songs such as "ABC's, Muffin Man, Wheels on the Bus, or, Old MacDonald" come on. They literally drop whatever it is they are doing to stand up and dance. Another favorite song lately has been "Yellow Submarine" and, most cutely: New Soul by Yael Naim

My dear darling girls,
I love you so much its crazy. Keep on keeping on, you crazy little binkers.
xoxo
p.s. Audrey, you gave your sister a black eye yesterday- not cool at all, but I'm pretty sure it was in self defense. separate post with details to follow..

(who is that scary looking princess on her ball? I might have to edit that out..)

7 months old!

I don't know how it happened, I really truly don't; babes are 7 months old, just too much for me to handle!
Did I mention that they are both babbling 'da da da' now? I think I may have. Audrey gets on all fours and rocks back and forth but can only really move backwards. Evie pulls herself along on her hands in a forward motion. We are working on the sitting up skills. I will capture this all on video if they ever return my video camera (went into the shop for repair and the timing couldn't be worse).
Audrey will take your toys away, beware; while Evie is much more gentle. They are eating more and more baby food each day. Evie likes to do her hair with her food, its quite charming actually- if she gets the food on her hands (which is inevitable because she will grab the full spoon from your hand and its practically impossible to pry away from her with her death grip) then she runs her hands through her hair, back and forth a few times. Audrey likes to talk while she eats, a habit I'm trying to tell her is not very lady like but she doesn't seem to care, therefore, the food is everywhere with Audrey.
Everything is going really well.. they are delightful and adorable and I just can't get enough of them, I love my girls so much!

Settling in..

We've been hiding out here in Florida for the past week.. enjoying the seclusion of it all. Poor Miss Evie has her first cold but through it all, she has been a real trooper.  She is up many times during the night but has the best little demeanor all day long.  I am so lucky to have such sweet tempered little girls.
We set up a little 'cage' -as Eric likes to call it -where the girls have their own space on the main living floor. Basically, it confines them for when they start crawling but also keeps out the big yellow dog from stealing their toys.

Audrey loves the exersaucer.. the flash was a little much

The flash went off right in her face !

Evelyn up on her hands..

Here is the reason for the 'cage'.. a shark in the water

Evelyn in the highchair waiting for some rice cereal. Even when she's under the weather she is as cute as can be!

Audrey waiting patiently for her lunch..If she doesn't look like a Rourke here, right?

P.S... notice all the lovely locks that the girls have? Its coming in fast! Soft and luxurious!!

5 months old!!

The girls turned five months yesterday, I can't believe it! We have been all over the place and they are doing very well with all the changes. Besides the whole 'we wake up whenever we want at night' issue. That is becoming very old, very fast. The little munchkins are also starting to teeth.. the drool is out of control lately and they love to chew on everything. Its so helpful to be here with all the family but its still difficult not having Eric around, we miss him very much!
Ev and Audrey are busy screeching, putting everything in their mouths, laughing, and rolling around. They also had their first taste of formula this week; they really weren't into it but we are trying a little each day.
Here are some pictures from what was supposed to be a Christmas card. I have cut it too close to the deadline so no Christmas card this year- instead a New Years card.. so be on the look out in a couple weeks.
Happy Babes

The caroling continues..

I love Evie's little grin..

Chilling with the Efingers..
